South by Southwest, a week long conference for global professionals, kicked off this week! Bringing together networks of innovators, exhibitions and professional development opportunities, SXSW dedicates itself to helping creative people achieve their goals. Sounds like the perfect meeting place for some Tillman Scholars, doesn’t it?
Through the usage of the Tillman Scholar Leadership Development Fund, PTF was able to sponsor five of our remarkable Tillman Scholars to attend, learn and grow into leaders in their respective fields. Ann Toews (TS ’15), Christian Dunbar (TS ’15), Harold Penson (TS ’17), Margo Darragh (TS ’22) and Daniel Reyes (TS ’22) are spending the week in Austin, TX being exposed to a variety of tracks that focus on the most important breakthroughs in technology, film, culture, music and more!
In addition to those scholars in attendance, 2014 Tillman Scholar Kim Jung, founder of Rumi Spice and current CEO of Blanchard House, served as a panelist at an associated event to bring together Veterans and Active Military to inspire entrepreneurship and networking.
Becoming a Tillman Scholar is an achievement of a lifetime and a commitment to make a positive impact long beyond the completion of their degrees. To help facilitate their growth beyond their scholarship, Tillman Scholars have access to our Leadership Development Funds. These mini grants can be used for classes, conferences, certifications, etc. Our remarkable Tillman Scholars are dedicated public servants with a passion for lifelong learner and PTF is proud to support them through our Leadership Development Fund as they continue to grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
