2010 Tillman Scholar
Terry Weaver joined the U.S. Navy in 1999 and enlisted as a Navy Corpsman. He was deployed as a combat Corpsman with the 1st Marines and served a tour of duty in Iraq between 2002 and 2003. His sole purpose quickly became – “save Marine lives at all cost”. After receiving a Presidential Unit Citation and serving five years, Terry received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy.
He was accepted to the Mays Business School at Texas A&M and received the Tillman Military Scholarship from the namesake scholarship foundation of the killed in action Army Ranger and NFL football player Pat Tillman. Terry received a Bachelor of Business Administration graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Terry spent ten years in corporate America in the heavy transportation sales and marketing industry. In late 2013 he helped found The Warriors Refuge which has since become VEL Institute, a Texas based 501(c)(3) that is dedicated to strengthen veterans and the communities they live in.
In early 2016, Terry had the honor of joining his home church’s staff and is currently an associate pastor at The Ark Church in Conroe, TX.
Terry is happily married with four children. He is passionate about studying leadership and believes that the greatest act of leadership is leading someone to Christ. Terry is currently pursuing a Master of Theology.
