Orain Edwards is a passionate and experienced international relations practitioner focused on human rights and global health. Throughout his career, he has worked on issues such as HIV and AIDS, climate change, economic development, reproductive health, and rights for vulnerable populations within the global south. Raised in Jamaica, Orain is a product of “it takes a village.” 

Governance and international health development and security have always been a passion of his; throughout his life, he has always been fascinated by the varying powers and institutions in the world and their influence on our lives. As he continues to hone his craft, his career goal is to be a successful international relations practitioner and diplomat, focusing on international health and development policy. Orain sees himself advising governments on human rights, social health policy, and development.

As such, Orain continues supporting his local communities as a volunteer firefighter, church, and community leader. Currently writing his dissertation on military readiness and global outbreaks for his doctor of global security doctorate in degree, Orain intends to merge the knowledge and experience during his research process with a master’s in public health to promote and enhance global health security for global and local vulnerable populations.
