Emile Phaneuf

Air Force
University of Arkansas
M.A., Political science

Emile served on Active Duty as a Security Forces member in the United States Air Force, where he had the opportunity to spend two years based in Tokyo, Japan. Upon completion of military service and as an undergraduate, he also had the opportunity to study International Relations and Portuguese language at universities in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After completing an MA in Political Science from the University of Arkansas with the help of the Pat Tillman Foundation, he worked for ten years in international sales and international business development for both an SME in the mining industry and then for Kraft Heinz — an assignment based in New Zealand, where Emile now lives. During these ten years, Emile was fortunate to be able to conduct frequent business travel throughout 40 countries across six continents.

In 2020, Emile completed a Master’s (double-degree) in Economics from OMMA Business School Madrid (Spain) and from the Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. After family, above all else, he loves economics and the economic way of thinking.

As for personal philosophy, in complete agreement with the mission of Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Emile hopes to do his part in seeking to further understand and articulate “the ethical, legal, and overall economic principles of a society of free and responsible persons.”
