2011 Tillman Scholar
Dan Futrell, a 2011 Tillman Scholar, brings nearly 15 years of cross-sector experience to the Pat Tillman Foundation. Upon graduating from Gonzaga University’s ROTC program, Dan served five years as a Ranger-qualified Infantry Officer as a platoon leader, company commander, and aide-de-camp. His most notable deployment was for 15 months with 3-2 Stryker Brigade in 2006-07, where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
Post-military, Dan earned a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University in the third class of Tillman Scholars. Since then, he has served for six years as an elected official on the local school board, and has held executive roles in nonprofits and private companies alike. Dan now lives in Chicago with his dog Libby and fiancee Giselle, where he is training urgently to improve his soul-crushing 3:00:19 marathon best.
