2017 Tillman Scholar Kim Shaughnessy-Granger Honored for Her Work in Healthcare

On May 1, 2025, Tillman Scholar Kim Shaughnessy-Granger was honored by Villanova University, her alma mater, with the Distinguished Leadership in Nursing Practice award. The recognition is given to Villanova alumni making a significant impact in nursing, and Shaughnessy-Granger was one of two nursing professionals selected for this year’s award.

Kim earned her BSN from Villanova in 1997 and used her Tillman Scholarship to complete her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the university in 2017. She has served in the Navy Nurse Corps for 28 years and has helped advance the field by improving patient care and strengthening military medical readiness. Kim was also named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 2021 and received the Military Health System’s Award for Nursing Leadership Excellence in 2019.

This latest recognition by Villanova demonstrates her commitment to excellence and leadership in nursing, as well as the power of investing in future leaders.
