Pat never stopped pushing the limits as an athlete.
Told he was too small to ever play football, he defied skeptics first as an All-American ASU Sun Devil and then as a record-breaking safety for the Arizona Cardinals. Even in the off-season, he never quit—challenging himself at marathons and half-Ironman triathlons nationwide.
Today, ten years after his death serving in Afghanistan, Team Tillman is keeping Pat’s passion and intensity alive while inspiring others to live up to their potential. A community of everyday athletes, civilian and military, we participate as a team or individually in marathons, half-marathons, triathlons, cycling and other athletic events to honor Pat. To date, we have raised nearly $1 million to fund scholarships for Tillman Military Scholars, who share Pat’s commitment to service, learning and action.
This year, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Pat Tillman Foundation, we are recruiting our strongest team yet. If you’re looking for a challenge as a seasoned athlete, weekend warrior or new runner, take a moment to explore some of our 2014 Team Tillman events. Each race is guaranteed to both motivate and inspire you—and your commitment will help us keep Pat’s legacy alive for years to come.
408K Race to the Row (March 2, 2014): Pat grew up in San Jose, CA and he loved the 408’s work hard/play hard attitude. Founded in 2011, “Race to the Row” is an 8k course (4.96 miles) that winds through the streets of San Jose in Pat’s honor and finishes on famous Santana Row. To date, the event has raised over $20,000 for the Pat Tillman Foundation – its Official Charity Partner. Our goal for 2014 is to smash that number! Register for the Team Tillman $408klub, come for the race and stay for the party to honor Pat.
Scottsdale Giant Race (March 8, 2014): World Series Championship journeys and road races alike can only start in one way – with a first step. For the San Francisco Giants, that step is annual Spring Training in Scottsdale. Ahead of Pat’s Run, push the limits with Team Tillman at the 2014 Scottsdale Giant Race 9k on March 8, 2014. It’s a great opportunity to train and test your endurance before April – plus, you could win exclusive prizes like free gear and spring training packages!
