Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Rodrigo Bermudez

Blog, Hispanic Heritage Month | 10/11/2022

As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, 2021 Tillman Scholar Rodrigo Bermudez shared his experiences and his story with us. As a former asylum seeker from Colombia, Rodrigo is passionate about helping prospective immigrants. In addition to being a full-time law student at Georgetown University, he applies what he’s learned in the classroom to weekly volunteer work with immigration-focused nonprofits translating legal documents and interpreting pivotal client interviews for Spanish-speaking clients. “I’m grateful that two decades ago somebody took the time to help my family—and I’m fortunate I can do the same for others today.”
