“Regardless of zip code, every person should have equal access to high quality healthcare. I want to ensure this for the patients in the communities in which I serve.”

Will is an Operations Manager at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he works with hospital staff to develop, implement and coordinate effective systems to evaluate and improve patient outcomes and quality care within the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.

Prior to his career in healthcare, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army where he was responsible for leading a communications department through various technical and tactical installation projects, as well as two deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. It was during his deployments that Will took an interest in the social determinants that prevented many Afghan citizens from accessing quality healthcare and preventative medicine. It wasn’t until after he began working on the front lines of improving health outcomes that he realized the same social determinants existed for the thousands of children and families that he serves in central Ohio.

For many, the neighborhoods in which they live have a direct impact on their life expectancy and health disadvantages. Will believes wholeheartedly that every person should have equal access to high quality healthcare regardless of their zip code. He obtained his master’s in healthcare administration from Ohio University to ensure this for the patients in the communities in which he serves.
