“Born into an immigrant farm-working family in CA, I learned the meaning of hard work and dedication as a means to succeed.”

Born into an immigrant farm-working family in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Jaime learned early on the meaning of hard work and dedication as a means to succeed in this country. In 2001, Jaime joined the Marine Corps as an Infantryman, serving four years of active duty. His service included two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was part of both combat and humanitarian operations.

It was during humanitarian aid missions that Jaime began to see a link between social determinants such as race/ethnicity, education, income and health outcomes. Jaime recently completed his Masters of Public Health at UCLA and currently works as a Public Health Analyst at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Jaime has not forgotten where he comes from and how important it is to continue serving his nation post-military service. He continues to serve his county as a public servant working to capacitate community health centers serving uninsured and underinsured populations across the United States and its territories.
