Garry Schwartzman

Harvard University

“The prospect of peace or war rests squarely on the shoulders of a competent soldier-statesman.”

Garry Schwartzman was born and raised in Colombia. In 2000, he and his family moved to the U.S. in search of the American Dream. After witnessing the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, he enlisted in the Army and soon found himself on the frontlines of the Global War on Terrorism. Four years later, he was nominated to attend the United States Military Academy. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in International Law and Russian, and commissioned as a military intelligence officer in the Army.

Propelled by an exemplary military record, he was selected to become a Foreign Area Officer aligned to Latin America, operating at the convergence of military strategy and diplomatic policy. At Harvard Kennedy School of Government, he will pursue a master’s degree in public administration to become adept at orchestrating instruments of national power to strengthen America’s regional alliances. Garry resides in Maryland with his wife and two children.
