Brett Funck’s career is marked by a commitment to leadership and service. His extensive experience in various leadership and staff roles within the military, including combat, demonstrates his resilience and dedication to duty. His transition into coaching and talent management post-retirement speaks to his desire to continue making a difference by sharing his expertise and helping others reach their full potential.
Brett is a retired Brigadier General who graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1994. A Division 1 athlete, playing hockey all four years while at West Point. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a master’s degree in human resources administration. He served in various leadership and staff positions throughout his career. Highlights include Company Commander, Troop Commander, and Team Leader; later serving as an Operations Officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, Operations Officer in the Joint Special Operations Command, and a Battalion Commander. At a more senior level, he served as the Fort Bragg Garrison Commander, the Deputy Commander of a Special Mission Unit, and the Chief of Staff for the 82nd Airborne Division. Finally, as a Brigadier General he served as the Operations Officer, the Deputy Commanding General of Operations and Acting Senior Commander of the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum, and finally the Executive Director of Talent Management for the Army. In combat, Brett received two valor awards, five bronze stars, and a Purple Heart.
Since retirement from the Army, Brett remains focused on helping individuals and companies that seek to be the best-in-class examples today and into the future. Additionally, he provides expert advice related to talent management practices to innovate and keep pace with the changing labor market environment. As an Executive Coach, Brett established a coaching program for Army General Officers and executed numerous hours of coaching Generals. This program extended to SES leaders and private sector executive leaders. Finally, Brett continues to coach extremely high-potential leaders in the Army to achieve their goals and aspirations.
