“…I live this way so that those that I encounter understand that people facing tragedy, trauma, and adversity are not broken — they are leaders, they are agents of change and they are people you encounter every single day.” —Halli Lannan

The Pat Tillman Foundation is devastated to learn of the passing of one of our remarkable Tillman Scholars, Halli Lannan. Halli, a 2015 scholar, passed away following a 5-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Halli was a veteran of the United States Army and a devoted and inspiring member of the Tillman Scholars community.

Halli made an impact on her colleagues within the PTF community. During her passionate Make Your Mark talk at the Pat Tillman Leadership Summit in 2017, Halli described the adversity she faced as a disabled veteran, sexual assault survivor, cancer survivor and member of the LGBTQ community. She spent years focusing on how to empower others to live authentically and speaking their truths. She will be remembered by the PTF community as an inspiration through her tireless work and determination to advocate for equity and her passion for education.

Our condolences are with Halli’s family, including her wife Erica, son Noah, and daughter Elliot, and all of those who loved her. Her positive spirit and passion for service will be missed by the PTF community.
