-John Kuhn , U.S. Army

Stanford University
M.S., Managerial Science

John Kuhn served twenty years in U.S. Army special operations before retiring from active duty service and transitioning to the civilian sector in early 2014. During his military career, he served in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Arabian peninsula, Egypt, and the Horn of Africa. Between 2001 and 2012 he deployed overseas a total of sixty months.

Inspired by the idea that most people are visual learners, and by the observation that storytelling techniques perfected by the film industry might be applied to make military communications more effective, John co-founded Presidio360 with David Dozoretz of Persistence of Vision. The company has produced elegant, high-quality animated content for the U.S. special operations community and is now expanding its scope to include the application of augmented and mixed reality technologies.

John is excited by the promise of the future. During the last twenty years, one-third of the planet’s population gained Internet access. During the next twenty years, he sees the remaining two-thirds being networked, allowing anyone to easily access all varieties of educational content. Helping to accelerate learning and informed decision-making to improve lives in a networked world is for John the next ridge line. His long-term vision is to create ad hoc augmented and holographic classrooms and briefing rooms anywhere in the world.

John holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Arizona and a graduate business degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He currently lives in Mill Valley, California.
