Chicago, IL (October 17, 2017) – Today, we are proud to announce that Pat Tillman Foundation has received a grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) to empower Tillman Scholars who are pursuing advanced degrees in health care and mental health services. As part of its Fall 2017 grant cycle, BWF announced a total investment of $1.4 million awarded to 14 organizations around the nation that facilitate programs serving post-9/11 military service members, veterans and their families. The grantees address the key focus areas of Education and Employment, Quality of Life, and Rehabilitation and Recovery.

“These fall grants comprise a balanced portfolio of fiscally responsible, effective and innovative programs that align with our mission,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “We’re excited our recipients include both new programs and longstanding partners who, together, help us effectively address our 2017 priorities.”

As a key partner through the years, BWF has worked tirelessly to ensure injured veterans and their families are thriving long after they return home. Their team navigates the maze of over 46,000 nonprofit organizations to find and fund innovative programs, like the Tillman Scholars Program, in communities where veterans, their families and caregivers live and work. The Education and Employment grants support programs that help veterans recognize their entrepreneurial aspirations and open up a range of professional opportunities for veterans and their spouses via postgraduate scholarships and professional licensing and certifications.

Receiving a grant from BWF is a tremendous honor and testament to the dedication, focus and effectiveness of the Tillman Scholars who are working on the front lines of veteran health care to support fellow veterans and their families as they face the physical and mental wounds of war. As a grant recipient, we are extremely proud to be a part of the Bob Woodruff Foundation grantee network, a collaboration of top-tier programs and advocates working to help service members, veterans and their families on the homefront.
